Utrecht: Food Tour - Try out 6 dutch bites

Join me, Lucas—your local guide and proud Utrechter—for a fun and flavorful walking tour through the charming streets of Utrecht! As someone who’s been guiding tours for years, I’m excited to share not only delicious Dutch treats but also fascinating stories from the city’s rich history. We’ll meet in front of Danel restaurant, right next to one of Utrecht’s biggest music venues, where I’ll be easy to spot with my big orange umbrella. After a brief welcome, we’ll kick things off with a warm, freshly made stroopwafel at the market—watching it go from dough ball to sweet, sticky perfection. While you enjoy your cookie, I’ll share the curious story of the old castle that once stood here, and how locals took it down themselves.

Our food journey continues with a sampling of Gouda cheese, followed by a visit to a classic Dutch snack wall where you can pick your favorite local treat. We’ll then dive into a famously messy (but delicious!) dessert called Tompoes, and take a peek inside a hidden church that’s now a beer café. Afterward, we’ll enjoy the beloved Dutch snack bitterballen—a must-try party favorite—before finishing with poffertjes, fluffy mini pancakes served hot at the market. Along the way, we’ll explore charming city corners, share laughs, and discover places even locals sometimes miss. Vegetarians are more than welcome, with alternatives available at each food stop, though vegans may prefer a dedicated vegan tour.
