This combo tour offers two thrilling aquatic experiences in a single day, starting with a peaceful morning of wildlife exploration and ending with an adrenaline-pumping adventure through Iceland’s wild rivers. Your day begins with a 3-hour Classic Whale Watching tour in the serene waters of Faxaflói Bay, where you’ll have the chance to see whales, dolphins, and a variety of seabirds, all while taking in the panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. You'll be picked up from your hotel between 8:15 and 8:45 and taken to Reykjavík’s Old Harbour, with the tour beginning promptly at 9:00. After your morning at sea, you'll return to the harbour where Arctic Rafting will collect you between 12:00 and 12:30 and transport you to the next leg of the adventure.
The rafting portion of your journey takes place on the glacial river Hvítá in the scenic Gullfoss Canyon, about 100 km from Reykjavík. After arriving at the Drumboddsstaðir base camp, you’ll be equipped and briefed before heading out on a 60–90 minute rafting trip through the stunning natural landscape. The combination of glacial waters, narrow canyons, and dramatic rock formations makes for a truly unforgettable experience. Once the rafting is over, you’ll return to base camp where you can warm up and unwind in the sauna or hot tub—so don’t forget your bathing suit and towel. Finally, the Arctic Rafting shuttle will take you back to your hotel in Reykjavík. Keep in mind that while pickup is included for the rafting section, you’ll need to select pickup during checkout for the whale watching tour. Those driving themselves must arrive at the Old Harbour before 09:00 and the rafting base before 15:00. A signed waiver is required for rafting, acknowledging the inherent risks involved in the activity.
