One of the most distinctive elements of Portuguese cuisine comes from its deep connection to the ocean. Whether it's a simple grilled fish or an abundance of fresh seafood caught along the coast, the flavors reflect Portugal’s maritime heritage. But the richness doesn’t stop there — from north to south, Portugal also boasts excellent DOP (Protected Denomination of Origin) meats such as pork, beef, and lamb, as well as seasonal vegetables and fruits that still carry the authentic taste of old-world farming, many of which are grown organically. This culinary journey unfolds in Campo de Ourique, one of Lisbon’s more traditional, yet less touristy neighborhoods. Designed for foodies, this tour connects Portuguese history and culture with its cuisine, offering you the chance to taste authentic dishes while learning their origins and stories from your guide.

Over the span of 3 to 4 hours, you’ll sample a selection of entrees and local specialties, starting at different spots around the neighborhood and continuing through the newly renovated local market. Here, more refined tastings await — including traditional Portuguese meats, seafood, and more, with the menu varying by season. To end your experience on a sweet note, you’ll enjoy the world-renowned “Best Chocolate Cake of the World,” followed by the iconic Pastel de Nata from a bakery repeatedly voted the best in Portugal. You’ll also try unique traditionally roasted almonds and sip a Ginjinha — an award-winning cherry liqueur, perfect for digestion. This is not a typical sightseeing tour but a rich, immersive food experience. Ideal at the beginning of your Lisbon stay, it also offers great tips from your guide on where to eat, visit, and explore.
