Embark on a four-day adventure through Cotahuasi Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world, rich in natural wonders and cultural heritage. Your journey begins with an early morning departure from Arequipa, including a stop at the Toro Muerto petroglyphs—one of the largest rock art sites in the Americas. Enjoy lunch in the charming town of Chuquibamba before continuing your scenic drive through high-altitude viewpoints and snowcapped peaks. You’ll arrive in Cotahuasi by mid-afternoon for dinner and your first overnight stay
On the second day, explore the remote depths of the canyon. After breakfast, head by private transport to the small town of Mayo, the starting point of a beautiful 8-kilometer trek to Quechualla. Along the trail, cross ancient bridges and visit the archaeological site of Huaña, known for its pre-Inca hanging tombs and terraced landscapes. Walk through forests of towering cactus and glimpse parts of the ancient Inca Trail (Qhapaq Ñan) before reaching Quechualla, a picturesque village nestled among fruit orchards. Enjoy a traditional lunch, sample organic wines and pisco, and spend the night in a local home
Day three begins with a hike back to Mayo and a drive to the spectacular Sipia Waterfall, a dramatic symbol of the canyon. After lunch in Cotahuasi, visit the Ecomuseum and enjoy a city tour that showcases traditional adobe architecture and narrow streets. In the afternoon, travel to the serene village of Taurisma, cross a suspension bridge, and relax in the thermal baths of Luicho, known for their therapeutic waters. Continue with a scenic ride to Antabamba, soaking in panoramic views and tasting a local snack made from natural produce. After this immersive experience, return to Cotahuasi for dinner and your final overnight. On the fourth day, journey back to Arequipa, arriving around 4:00 PM
