At 8:00 am, your driver will pick you up from the lobby of your centrally located Shanghai hotel (excluding hotels in the Shanghai Pudong Airport area) for a 2-hour drive to Suzhou, where your local guide will meet you. Suzhou, once the capital of Wu culture 800 years ago, is a historically significant city developed around the Grand Canal, which played a major role in traditional north-south commerce in China. Often referred to as the "Venice of the East," Suzhou combines a rich historical legacy with modern urban development. Upon arrival, you’ll explore The Humble Administrator’s Garden, one of China's finest classical gardens and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its graceful pavilions, winding bridges, and serene water features, the garden is a brilliant example of traditional Chinese landscaping and architectural aesthetics. After a stroll through the garden, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, savoring authentic Suzhou cuisine.

In the afternoon, you’ll visit the scenic Shantang Street, an old canal-side street lined with traditional architecture, opera stages, shops, and museums, giving you a taste of the water town charm of southern China. You’ll also enjoy a 40-minute boat ride on the Grand Canal, offering picturesque views of Suzhou from the water and a sense of the city’s historical relationship with the canal. Your final stop will be the Suzhou Silk Museum, where you’ll discover the long history of silk production in China through exhibits, live demonstrations, and cultural insights. This visit offers a fascinating look into how silk shaped Suzhou’s identity and contributed to China’s legacy in global trade. After the tour, your driver will take you back to your Shanghai hotel, concluding a full day of cultural discovery in Suzhou.
