Your guide will pick you up from your centrally located Guangzhou hotel, then you will take a taxi or metro to begin the day’s tour. The first stop is the Museum of the Tomb of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Period, where you will explore Guangzhou’s history dating back over 2,200 years. Next, you will visit Yuexiu Park to see the city’s iconic 5 Rams Sculpture, erected in 1959 to celebrate a local legend. In the park, you will also view a section of the Old City Wall, built during the Ming Dynasty about 600 years ago. Following this, the tour continues to the Academy of Chen Clan, an academic temple built in 1894 during the late Qing Dynasty. This beautifully preserved complex showcases traditional Cantonese architecture and now serves as a folk art museum featuring intricate wooden, stone, and brick carvings, pottery, and iron engravings, all explained by your local guide.
Afterward, you will take the metro to Shamian Island, a former British and French colony known for its well-preserved European-style architecture and picturesque spots popular for wedding photography. From Shamian Island, you will walk to the dock and board a public boat to cruise along the Pearl River toward the impressive Canton Tower. Along the river, you will enjoy moving views of city buildings, parks, islands, and bridges. The Canton Tower stands 600 meters tall, and if interested, you may purchase a ticket to visit the observation deck at your own expense. A delicious Cantonese Dim Sum lunch is included during the tour. Your memorable day concludes at the Canton Tower, where you can take a taxi or metro back to your hotel. Please note, the Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King closes on Mondays, and the Academy of Chen Clan closes on Tuesdays; alternative arrangements will be made if your tour falls on these days.
