Private Overnight Tour to Tiger Leaping Gorge and Shangri-La from Lijiang

On the first day, your guide will meet you at 8 am in the lobby of your Lijiang hotel. From there, you will begin a scenic two-hour drive to the renowned Tiger Leaping Gorge. En route, you’ll enjoy a distant view of the First Bend of the Yangtze River, followed by a brief stop at Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge for photographs. The journey continues to the Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge, where you will hike for approximately three hours from a spot known as “14km” to Tina’s Guesthouse. This section of the gorge is considered one of the most stunning hiking routes in China, offering dramatic cliffs and roaring river views. In the afternoon, around 3:30 pm, you’ll be driven to Shangri-La. Upon arrival, you’ll explore the charming Dukezong Ancient Town and make your way up Guishan Hill to see the impressive Grand Prayer Wheel. From the top, enjoy panoramic views of the city and soak in the unique Tibetan culture that defines Shangri-La. Later in the evening, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay in Shangri-La.

On the second day, after breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel to start the day’s tour with a visit to Songzanlin Monastery, the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan, often referred to as the “Little Potala Palace.” Following the monastery, you’ll stop by a local Tibetan household in Xiaojiezi Village near the monastery to get a closer look at daily life in a Tibetan community. In the afternoon, you’ll travel to the picturesque Napahai Lake, surrounded by grasslands and mountains, which is home to seasonal birdlife and stunning vistas. After enjoying the tranquil scenery, you will begin the four-hour drive back to Lijiang in the late afternoon, concluding your enriching two-day journey through the captivating landscapes and culture of northwestern Yunnan.
