Starting from Cerciz Topulli square, you will meet your host and walk to one of the oldest neighborhoods in town, “Pazar i Vjeter.” There, you will meet Marjeta and her husband, who will warmly welcome you to their home. The cooking class begins with a glass of raki or a soft drink as you get settled. Under Marjeta’s guidance, you will learn to prepare a vegetarian menu featuring three traditional dishes: “Qofte bobollaqe,” mainly made of yogurt; the unique “Qifqis,” a rice-based dish found only in Gjirokaster; and the dessert called “Hasude.” These dishes are complemented by a fresh seasonal salad Marjeta has already prepared.
After cooking, you’ll sit down together with the group to enjoy the meal you created, paired with a complimentary glass of wine, raki, or a soft drink. This relaxed time is perfect for sharing stories and savoring the flavors of the dishes. At the end of the class, you will receive a recipe booklet so you can recreate these traditional meals at home whenever you wish, keeping the taste of Gjirokaster alive in your kitchen.
