This exciting safari offers an immersive experience into the heart of Lapland’s Taiga forest, where you'll explore the vibrant nature of the region and learn valuable wilderness survival skills. Your journey begins with a scenic departure from Rovaniemi, taking you deep into the forest, surrounded by the beauty of Lapland's ever-changing landscape. Your knowledgeable guide will share insights about the local trees, plants, and wildlife, and teach you how to use natural resources to create fire and practice other basic survival skills. Whether you're looking to learn or just experience the wilderness firsthand, this safari offers a perfect blend of adventure and education.
The tour operates throughout the year, with each season offering a unique experience in the Taiga forest. During the summer months, the forest comes alive with lush greenery and abundant undergrowth. You’ll have the chance to forage for fresh, wild berries like blueberries, lingonberries, cloudberries, and cranberries, which you can enjoy as you hike through the forest. As you move into autumn, the forest transforms with a breathtaking array of colors, from gold to auburn, as the leaves change. This is also the season when mushrooms and local shrubs are in full bloom, providing you with an opportunity to learn about these natural resources. Winter transforms the landscape again, and the tour is adapted to suit the colder months, focusing on survival techniques specific to the snowy environment. The winter version of this tour offers its own unique challenges and rewards, and further details can be found on the Winter Tours section of the website.
Midway through the tour, you’ll stop for a break where your guide will light a traditional campfire, providing both warmth and a chance to relax. Here, you’ll enjoy typical Finnish campfire snacks, while your guide demonstrates how to build a fire using flint and steel along with natural materials you gather along the way—no need for matches or lighters. This skill is an essential part of the experience, connecting you to the region’s traditional survival methods. Throughout the safari, the group size is kept small, with a maximum of 8 people, ensuring a more personal and intimate experience. This allows your guide to pay attention to your individual needs, offer tailored advice, and answer any questions you may have, ensuring a deeper connection to the land and the local culture. As we often say, "the smaller the group, the bigger the experience!" This philosophy is designed to provide you with a memorable and unique adventure in the heart of Lapland’s wilderness.
