Set out on an unforgettable off-road expedition through Azerbaijan’s majestic mountain regions, beginning with a morning departure from Baku. Our journey kicks off in Shahdag, where we trade city roads for rugged trails in 4x4 vehicles, ready to explore some of the country’s highest and most remote villages. We pass through the scenic town of Quba, nestled at the foot of the Greater Caucasus Mountains. Known for its cultural diversity and natural beauty, Quba sets the tone for the awe-inspiring wilderness ahead. Our next destination is Griz, a secluded mountain village renowned for having the longest snow season in Azerbaijan. With its terraced stone houses and remote charm, Griz offers a rare glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of resilient mountain communities.
As we ascend further, we reach Galakhudat, the highest village in the Quba region at 2,270 meters. Often called the “Roof of Quba,” it rewards adventurers with panoramic views and untouched alpine scenery. The journey culminates in Khinalig, one of the oldest and most unique highland villages in the Caucasus. Perched high in the mountains, Khinalig has remained isolated for centuries, preserving its own ancient culture and language. Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and stone houses that seem frozen in time, this mystical village offers a powerful connection to Azerbaijan’s mountain heritage and natural splendor.
