We will depart from Santander and head towards the stunning Cabezon de la Sal Sequoia Forest, a designated Natural Monument since 2003. Covering an area of 2.5 hectares, this is one of the largest sequoia forests in Spain, offering a unique experience for nature lovers. Upon arrival, we’ll take a leisurely walk along the network of trails that wind through the towering trees. As we explore, you’ll have the chance to admire the breathtaking beauty of the forest, with its ancient, majestic sequoias, some reaching up to forty meters in height. The tranquility and serenity of the forest make it the perfect place to immerse yourself in nature.
Next, we’ll journey to the picturesque town of San Vicente de la Barquera, known for its stunning coastal views and its strategic location at the junction of the sea and the estuary, with the Picos de Europa providing a magnificent backdrop. The town is one of the most iconic spots on the Cantabrian coastline, and you’ll get to enjoy its breathtaking scenery as we explore. Our visit will include a tour of the historic old town, which has been declared a Cultural Heritage site of Cantabria due to its significant monuments and the remnants of an ancient defensive wall.
Among the highlights of San Vicente de la Barquera are the Gothic Church of Santa Maria de los Ángeles, renowned for its architectural beauty, and the Castillo del Rey, a historic castle offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. After our exploration, you’ll have some free time to relax in the town, grab a drink at a local cafe, or browse through the charming shops. Once you’ve enjoyed the atmosphere of this scenic coastal town, we’ll make our way back to Santander, filled with memories of nature, history, and beautiful coastal views.
