Our journey begins at the steps of the Metropolitan Cathedral, where we will gather before diving into the rich history of Florianópolis' historic center. As we stroll through the charming streets, we’ll uncover the hidden stories behind the city's most significant monuments and buildings. Along the way, we’ll explore the indigenous presence on the Island of Santa Catarina and travel back in time to the 17th century, a period marked by the arrival of Portuguese colonizers and African enslaved people who played a crucial role in shaping the island's culture and heritage.
As we continue, we’ll learn about the founders of the so-called "Magic Island" and make our way to the iconic Cruz e Sousa Palace and the historic November 15th Square. Our route then takes us to the vibrant Public Market, where we’ll take a well-deserved break to sample delicious local snacks and drinks such as pastel, garapa, caipirinha, or local beers. This stop is also the perfect opportunity to browse for unique local products and souvenirs while getting to know each other better in a lively atmosphere filled with the island's flavors and traditions.
Our journey continues through key Black heritage landmarks and the stunning Álvaro de Carvalho Theatre. We'll end with a surprise at Miramar Memorial before I share recommendations maybe even join you at a top Florianópolis bar.
