Experience a serene and unique activity at a 300 year old Zen temple, located away from the typical tourist spots, offering a quiet and relaxing environment. This authentic setting allows you to immerse yourself in the art of Japanese calligraphy, a tradition that was introduced to Japan from China in the 6th century. You will learn to draw Chinese characters using a brush, carefully studying samples to replicate the intricate strokes. As part of the experience, we will prepare your name in Japanese phonetics, giving you the opportunity to practice writing it in Japanese. To make it even more memorable, you’ll write your name on a traditional rice scoop shamoji, which is considered a lucky item in Miyajima, bringing good fortune to take home with you.
During the session, you’ll have the chance to take as many photos as you like, capturing the beauty of the lessons and the tranquil surroundings of the Japanese garden. Our calligraphy lesson serves as an excellent introduction to Japanese culture, and for an even more special experience, you can wear a kimono, making this activity a truly unforgettable highlight of your trip. Whether you're seeking to explore authentic Japanese traditions or create lasting memories in a peaceful setting, this experience is sure to enrich your visit.
