Travel independently to the charming mountain village of Belulang, where you’ll be warmly greeted by the Balikaru team with a refreshing welcome drink. Your cultural immersion begins with an introduction to traditional Balinese music, specifically the Rindik—a bamboo instrument that produces a uniquely soothing sound. You’ll have the chance to try playing it yourself, guided by locals who share its cultural significance. From there, explore the lush Balikaru organic herb and spice garden, home to over 40 plant varieties. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, you'll learn about the uses and health benefits of these natural ingredients in Balinese daily life.
Your hands-on experience continues at the Jamu Pavilion, where you’ll craft two traditional Jamu health drinks using natural ingredients harvested from the garden. These powerful herbal tonics follow a 1000-year-old Javanese tradition and are made following the family’s trusted recipe. After sampling your creations, head over to Paon Bali—the village’s open-air kitchen—where you’ll learn to prepare an authentic Balinese meal. Surrounded by nature and local hospitality, this culinary adventure offers an unforgettable taste of Balinese tradition and daily life.
